Above: Just me doing some basic keybed restoration and also tuning.
Below: A pedal lyre repair was desperately needed on this Kawai. The support arms had been ripped out (along with some of the wood). I had to repair the crack that ensued, fill the missing chunks in with hard filler, sand and stain with some very nice ebony stain. Unfortunately, I forgot to take an "after" photo. I also had to ground down some of the mounting plate to raise the whole pedal lyre assembly up due to the overall pedal height being too low. Being too low is what causing the support arms to be ripped out in the first place.

Below: This grand action needed a new set of shank knuckles. The old one were just too worn in and had been treated with graphite. Graphite is a nice lube. However, graphite is messy and hard to clean up. Also, graphite on shank knuckles seems to glaze and harden the buckskin. The old knuckles were extracted and a complete new set was installed. The bottom two photos show how much adjustment the capstans have received over the years to compensate for knuckle wear.
Below: This old 1935 console piano desperately needed new keytops. The old ivories were chipped, discolored, poorly glued and many missing. We determined that the best and most cost-effective course of action would be to completely re-cover all white keys with a simulated ivory. The result is quite nice. The simulated ivories are very natural looking and feel very nice under the fingers. This job is not expensive for the customer, especially considering the drastic difference in appearance and playability!
